Re: wont pump fuel

You may have air being sucked into the fuel line between the bulb and the pump.

When you squeze the bulb you pressurize that section of line causing the O-rings in the fittings to seal, but once under a vacuum it leaks.

Test by replacing the hose from the fuel pump to carb with a clear hose, crank or start the motor and watch for bubbles in the fuel.

Remove the clear hose once you are finished with your repairs, it is not rated for marine use and can fail when you least expect it.

Re: wont pump fuel

Is this the in-line 6 with two fuel pumps?

When you replaced the diaphragms did you use the fuel pump rebuild kits that included the new check valves?

Generally when squeezing the primer bulb keeps the motor running the problem is either air sucking into the system after the bulb or bad fuel pump(s), like leaking check valves in the fuel pump.

Disconnect the fuel line after the fuel pump, install a clear hose, crank the motor and watch the fuel stream.

If either pump fails, get a complete pump rebuild kit(s).
