I'm about to buy a new 12" coumpound Miter saw and I think I want the Hitachi Dual sliding 12". Here is the question. There are 3 listed that all look alike but different Model# FDH #LCH # LSH range from 200.00 to 500.00. Can anybody shed any light on these different Model #s. I think the L stands for laser guide but don't really know. Thanks.

I dont think there is any such thing as a 12" slide Hitachi for 200.00.
My 12" non-slide dual bevel Hitachi with digital readout cost 500.00ish.

I also have a 10" slide dual bevel Porter Cable, I use all time and the 12" sits unused most of the time.
The 12" is heavier and harder to move around and the 10" slide can cut more width.
I dont think id buy a 12 again. Even with the slide on the 12" it does not cut that much more for the extra cost.

The C12LCH 12" Compound Miter Saw with LCD Display & Laser Marker is the one I have.

So you think all I need is a 10" sliding. Working on Cabin on lake but I want one that is almost commercial grade, want one that will last a while. even though I won't be used much after finished with tree house. Porter Cable Brands sounds good got a jig saw that Iv"e had forever. Floor is down starting on walls when I save up some more Money:D u know how it goes. Thanks for Input...:)

I have a C10FSH- 10 inch dual compound slide, with a laser. It works well, the catch is that it a bit heavy... But a lot lighter than the 12 inch! For normal trimwork, it ( the 10 inch) is more than enough.

I have a Dewalt 12 inch as well, but it is a simple miter saw- no slide.and I find that one to be my workhorse, as it is a lot lighter and can be setup in moments .

I have the stands/workstations for each, I find them invaluable. Check out the universal stand in the pic attached, spendy , but worth every penny.

Depends what your cutting really. I have both in my woodshop, and they both have their uses.... My 12" gets used for cutting 36/4 rough sawn and such, can't do it with a 10" to well. I would look at the difference in motors on them.I'm not sure if there is a difference in the motors for the box store brands though....

My $149.00 HF 12" compound slide mitre saw does just great. The worst part about it is that a few months after I bought it, they had an ad for $119.95.

It came with an 80 tooth carbide blade and a laser sight. Just can't beat it if you don't use it every day.
