dissapointed, so whats my motor worth ?

i was looking at moving my engine up on my jackplate. well while looking at it all, i notice some new cracks in the transom so after further looking and some tugging around on the engine i have determined that my transom is rotten. this i really dissapointing, since it was supposedly replaced about 3 years ago. in fact whoever did it, split the cap across the back hatch and removed about the back 3 feet of the upper cap. i know this because the seam where they reglassed the piece back on has cracked open on 1 side. but my question is, what is a suggestion for a sales price for a 1995 merc 2.5 EFi XLI. it has approximately 25 hours on a powerhead rebuild,it had a bad cylinder, so instead of fixing one cylinder, it was bored .20 over and was built back with wiseco pistons, and all the other good stuff. motor comes with a manual jackplate and stainless prop. it runs excellent.

I dont pretend to know all pricing i want to give you my recent purchase to try and compare the two. I just purchased a 98' 225hp merc rebuild with brand new pistons and all new dressings for 2200$.

you can always look for a used boat to put that motor on instead of selling it

Monkey i wished i could, but at this time, i cant afford to buy another boat to replace it.

well i meant if you hang on to it maybe you could get one later down the road. I'd say that motor with the rebuild would go for around $2800-$3500 around here, (Baton Rouge area) but i am no expert either. just going by what i've seen. good luck
