I have a evinrude engine and its been parked for 3 weeks I found oil stains right under the lower unit. I pulled the upper drain plug and oil began to come out of it I let it drain and got about 9 oz before it stop coming out I did not pull the lower drain plug. before doing this I noticed there was a some oil at 2 little holes right next to the water inlet for the pump. I drained some of the oil to see its condition and it looked just like the stuff in a new bottle of gear oil. It was not milky or a different color. Any ideas guys I'm lost on what I should do?

Was the oil stain dark and cruddy looking, it is not abnormal for unburned gas/oil mixture to drain from the lower unit.
Pull the lower drain plug and see if there is any water in the lower unit, oil will float on top of water.

Hey thanks for the reply. the liquid was very clear and feels like oil I just pulled the lower plug and it looks the same. Is there a chance that the heat may be a factor its in the garage I did'nt think that the expansion of the oil could do it but it was pretty full? the 2 little holes by the inlet are they drain holes for water?

They allow the exhaust housing to drain so that it will not freeze in cold weather and break something.

Don't try to seal them up, they are supposed to leak, they drain the exhaust housing.
