my motor cuts in and out randomly on the 4 & 5 power level. other levels work fine. tried cleaning contacts on foot pedal and coated with dilectic grease, no avail. ideas? unit 3 years old with moderate use.

I had a simalar problem with a transom mounted MK.

It turned out to be a wire that was nicked when they drilled the hole in the shaft to mount the head.

What size circuit breaker do you have? If it is less than 50 amps it is the breaker that is opening and resetting because too much current is being drawn at the faster speeds. A 55# motor draws between 40 and 45 amps.
