The BEST oil to use for that engine is the XD50 but if price is a concern Pennzoil Syn blend is good..

I run the XD-50 in my motor...I get hardly any smoke ..just at start up..and none after..and no smell....engine purrs like new and its a 83...

Also call your marina and see if they sell in bulk..you bring your own jug and they fill it..save you a couple dollars a gallon...

XG-50 has a de carb property also...reducing carbon build up and helps clean it out also...worth the extra few dollars to me....

I like the Pennzoil synblend that FAZTBULLET mentions. It is considerably less expensive. I find it many times at Walmart for about $13.00 /gal on sale. It will say Pennzoil XLF (extended life formula) and if you reaad the label it will tell you that it is a synthetic blend. There has been much discussion on this forum at times about oil and I have read many posts from people who use the Pennzoil. I do not recall anyone saying they did not like it.
