ok so motor has ran great all summer, went out one morning and it started then stopped , then started again then stopped. So i took carb of and cleaned it. Ran great the next 2 times out, 3rd time out since cleaned carb and no go. It started then stopped, and again. So the following day i was gonna take carb off but decided to try to pull it, what do ya know it fired right up, then again, then again, then again lmao. So anyone have any idea as to why my 1966 6hp johnson has so much attitude?? thanks alot.

When it stops did you verify spark? Could be a stop switch going bad, points are dirty, fuel pump not working, many different reasons.

Do they sell new fuel line in Brockville? :)
I think maybe the fuel lines on the motor are rotten on the inside and clogging up the carb. Certainly won't hurt much to put new ones on.
Probably no stop switch if pre-1970 tiller motor.

By the looks of the rounded cavitation plate on his motor, its a 1965 model - no stop switch on that motor.

Is the motor pumping water normally? Any chance that it is heating up and the pistons are "grabbing" the cylinder walls, causing the motor to quit?
