How do you remove torsional damper on 1999 4.3l vortec?

I believe the prop turns counterclockwise on my 1999 starcraft 4.3l vortec. I assume the damper bolt turns counterclockwise but want to make sure before I put too much leverage on it. I have the service manual, but do I need the tool to take this off and put it back on the new long block correctly? Also on my new exhaust 2 piece manifolds instead of one, do I need a 3" rise or 4" rise.

thinking you mean the harmonic balancer on the front of the engine. Yes, a special tool is needed ,a balancer puller and installer.

Thanks Bt, yep the balancer on the front. Wow that baby is expensive! After reading I might be able to rent one. Does the bolt in the middle turn counterclockwise to loosen?
