I have a chance to purchase an incredible fishing boat for a very, very good price. This boat is in showroom condition (visually) and has less than 30 hours on it. My problem is that it has sat outside, on the trailer, since 2005 without anything being done to it at all except for being covered with a boat cover.
I live in Wisconsin so the boat has seen some pretty cold winters as of late. It is a Ranger 620VS with an Optimax 225 and a 9.9 4-stroke Merc. kicker motor.
First of all, Ive heard some horror stories about the Optimax motors back in that era and when you compound that with the motor sitting for years does that make this motor a lost cause? If not, what can i expect to have to do to get this boat back into good working order?
I'm sure i'll have to go through the trailer brakes as well as replace all 3 batteries on board but what else can i expect to have to do to this boat to make it ready for use? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Its a shame to have such a fine boat just sit for all that time but a tragedy occured to the owner and the people around him just didnt know any better.
Thanks in advance.
