Calm winds, little boat traffic, blue skies and not a ripple anywhere.
It started in the canal no-wake zone. Came across a go-fast with 2 young guys and their bikini clad girlfriends. They were impressing the gals by actually running at idle spped, not creating a wake.
Then, we stopped at our favorite fishing hole and drifted awhile. Several boats came by and actually slowed down as they passed. Later, when we were trolling, several more boats actually changed course so as to not go over our lines.
We stopped for lunch at our favorite cove and lo and behold in comes 3 brand new jetskis with young girlies driving them. All smiles and waves like they just got them and would you believe they also had the audacity to slow to no-wake speed.
Out in the Lake at different times we encountered 4 boats coming up on us from our port side and they had the gall to slow down and pass us behind. The worst part of that was that one of them was a 40 something Searay and the other a Fountain with triple 300's. I mean, thay own the lake, why slow for us?
Finally, we anchored on the sandbar next to the rock reef and watched at least 40 boats go by. Every single one of them followed the channel markers and not one needed SeaTow.
So, what's up with all this? Eevrybody out today a graduate of the safe boating course, or what? Or, is the moon in an odd position?
Well, I'm hopeful tomorrow will be more normal. The wife is busy so I decided to take out my bass boat by myself. I'm sure I'll meet some lunatics, someone waterskiing in the no-wake zone, or at the very least a boater that never saw a chart and takes his outdrive off in the reef.
