I have a 1984 omc 2.5 and I replaced the fuel pump and still can't get it to pump fuel. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Fuel pump not pumping

Is the pump sucking? Put a finger over the inlet and crank the engine a bit. If theres no suction there could be a problem with the pump drive or the new pump.
Is the fuel line clear? Does it have any cracks or is it old & brittle?
There is also a vent in the system, that needs to be clear.
There's an anti siphon valve which is a check ball that only flows fuel when there is enough suction from the fuel pump. It wouldn't hurt that to come off the tank outlet and get cleaned up with carburetor cleaner.
And you might want to remove the fuel sender. When it is out you can inspect inside the tank for particles or debris. Or you could siphon out the old gas.
If you have a hole in the fuel line your pump could be pumping only air.
If you have junk in the tank it might get sucked up against the fuel pickup, and then fall back into the tank after the engine quits because the fuel pump suction stops. Or if you have a clogged vent you could loosen the gas cap after the motor quits to check for suction.
