90 sears gamefisher 3 hp no power,but runs

i have on old gamefisher[yea i know problems]......ran great till my dad gave it to me...said they hit a rock and to check it out......well i did...motor runs fine...throttle it up prop spins faster etc,,....so i put it in the water and no forward thrust....sheer pin? ,clutch to motor drive mechanizime??...guess you can still get parts??...sears where i live says no....but i'll check the sears site on the net...tanaka built i presume...any ideas from you guys out there......guess i'll put it on the....... bench and check it out....thanks for any info....donny...:confused:

Tanaka USA website. They have the parts. Find the parts breakdown here before you start so you can refer to the exploded views.

Hopefully just the shear pin on the prop shaft, but could be a broken drive shaft. Those are good motors, I've been running a 3HP Tanaka for 25+ years.

Keep the motor turned off. Put it in gear and see if the prop spins easy in gear.. Its pretty easy to take the prop off and check it. Ive sheared a couple pins in my day

One other thing to check is the centrifugal clutch under the power head. Just remove 3 phillips head screws and drop that down to check, you will also need to loosen exhaust pipe connector clamp(2 screws), so you can drop the lower drive unit. You probably just sheared a pin.
