what is proper sparkplug

I bought a 1973 evinrude 15 hp outboard that has 2 different brands of spark plugs with their own numbers that are different from one another. Does anyone know what brand and number will work best for it? Do I have to set the gap as well?

I would suggest double checking the model number to verify the year as they are not showing a 15hp for 73, the follwing link will give you a heads up.

the original plug is no longer made, i would use Champion J6C. i have used them in my 1968 18hp for years.
