I have a 2003 200 HPDI that starts and idles fine, you can put it in gear and run around in a no wake all day, but when you hammer it down to take off it stands up and wont plane out. Occasionally you can feather the throttle back and forth and get it to go. Once you get it going you get good RPMs and good speed. I have had compression, ignition, and fuel pressure checked and leakdown, all good. Any answers?

I would suspect lift pumps or the VST filter is clogging,

would the good fuel pressure I am getting not point to a filter? I dont know, I have had 2 different marinas look at this motor now and taking it back a third time. I fished a night tourny on sat. and the first 5 hours I got it going, still sluggish at the start, but eventually got it on plane getting around 5300 rpms (boat full, 2 people). The next 7 hours, after a brief shower while we were weighing in, I couldnt get it on plane at all, still starting and idling perfect.

both medium and high pressure rails must be test at the same time at the problem RPM and load.
anything else is mostly worthless.

thanks for the info. I am taking it to the marina tomorrow and I will let them know what you said. Evidently they dont know, they told me it was the prop. Cant see that being it.
