I recently bought a 1988 hurricane deckboat, Fundeck. The transom is weak. And I have no access to the nuts on the front cleats. I am pondering spitting the the top deck from the hull, to fix the transom, and get to all the things inside the deck. But before I go this route I was also wondering how to get the aluminum fuel tank out of the aft end of the boat, Any one know how it is attached? Anyone one know how much the top deck weighs? And my last question is where do I start?

You need to post your pics on a site like photobucket and link the pics to your thread. Look for better instructions in the Non boating, tech questions forum of Iboats.

Being a deckboat, Its hard to tell how your boat is put together.

You'll get the help you need, just need good pics.

Re: 1988 hurricane deck boat restoration

Just to update, I decided to just cut the splash well out at the back end. It gave me complete access to the rotted out portion of my transom. Also saved a lot of time trying to remove the entire top cap off the boat. It also gave me decent access to remove old fuel tank in the hull.
Pics to follow when daylight comes.
