I have a '97 hydra-sport w/ evenrude v6 150 ocean pro. it has an OMC throttle lever. Lever will put motor into gear but it just idles. Throttle was realy stiff befor then completely loose and no power up. their is no action at motor when throttle lever is moved. do i need to replace lever assembly? or can this be fixed?

Re: Throttle control problem

It can be fixed. Something came loose or broke, either at the engine end or in the control box.

Re: Throttle control problem

you could pop the control up and off its mount and turn it over and watch what happens when you move the throttle lever.

if all looks good under there, you probably snapped a cable inside its sheath...

and you would need to buy new cables(get both while you are at it)

if you get lucky a cable end came out of its location under the control...

but that would be hoping for a lot.

good luck

Worst Case, cable is broken. I pulled the control top off nothing lookes evidently broken but only one cable moves with lever. I will examine some more. Thanks Guy's. Aything else would be appriciated.
