Just bought my first boat. 18' aluminum starcraft, 115hp evinrude with the trailer. Got it all for a $1000. A local shop tells me that the transom needs to be replaced. Is this something I could do myself.

Ayuh,... Welcome Aboard,.... How Handy are ya,..??

There's probably somebody already replacin' a transom in a Starcraft, Just like your's, down in the Restoration forum....

Yup, you can do it. I managed and the boat hasn't sunk yet. People on this forum are geniuses and very helpful, they'll save you from a lot of mistakes. Best advice I learned on here, never use silicone to seal anything, it's the quickest way to sink. Good luck and enjoy!

Welcome to the starcraft club and I am a newbie to boating also. best advice is to read alot of the resto threads on here as there is a ton of good info and jump into it. I will also tell you what I was told in my first few posts. WE WANT TO SEE PICTURES LOL.good luck with your project.:D
