When looking over my training course, it claims the capacity plate is a guideline and estimated at 150lbs per person. And if the person exceed 150 to reduce the number of persons. My question is can this go the other way, for example if you have a bunch of kids that weight 90-130, can more be added as long as overall weight capacity is kept in mind. Be aware this pertains to a 20' vessel.

I am unable to find this spelled out.

No. The capacity place state your limits with wieght or ppl. Whichever you hit first is your limit.

Does the weight mean just cargo, or intergral added accessories like navigation equipment, fuel, power inverters permenantly attached, etc. For example I only have minimal things aboard. Just the bare nessesities.

My capacity plate states Maxium people capacity, Maxium wieght of Passengers, and overall Maxium wieght including (Fish, water, Ice, towels, sunscreen, etc... you get the picture). :)

Gee, I read it as 7 persons OR 1050 lbs. Now I would not put 10 people at 105lbs each, but I would go with 4 adults and 4 kids.....

Chris you have it wrong. 8 people exceeds the maximum of 7 regardless of weight.

On the tag above, they basically allow 350# for the motor and standard gear. Possibly fuel? then the 1050 is what you add, whether in people, stuff or both.

not sure how fuel figures in, which can be significant.

Maybe YOU would, and maybe it would be safe, but if the USCG boards you they will issue a citation.

I'm less worried about the CG, than the Pa fish cops. They practically invent stuff to hit you for. Just to generate revenue.
To the Op, It's which ever number you hit first. Oh, and hope they dont pull you off the lake to weigh it if you have water logged anything.;)

ive never seen them weight the cargo but they do count people. And make sure you have a pfd for each person.

so if they weigh do they siphon the fuel? It is also important to know for sure, especially with OB's if the weight of the OB is included in that number.
