I have a Chrysler Commando 151 center console boat. I need to replace the helm and maybe the steering cable. The original Teleflex helm is stamped SH5023/Twin SH5075. The steering wheel molding was getting real bad and the wheel was rusted to the shaft so bad that I ruined the shaft. Tried a lot of things first. The Teleflex website shows Safe-T "TS" replacement items: SH5023P (helm), SA35680P (spent travel tube), and 274541P (steering wheel hardware kit). I haven't found prices yet though. The boat was under powered with a 1982 Mercury 40 hp. Steering at the transom was with the transom mounted clamp. I'm putting on a larger 90 hp motor with tilt tube. The original 88C72 steering cable only goes half way into the tube and stops. I believe I can fix that minor problem. Is there a difference in o.d. between transom mount and tilt tube steering cables? I think a kit with everything may be cheapest way to go. Does the Safe-T QC helm use the "exact" mounting holes for the "TS" bracket drilled mounted to my console? If not I'll go with the replacement helm. Ditto on the NFB helm using the same "exact" mounting holes in the bracket.
