There we are about 10:30pm headin out to catch the full moon tide at the inlet. I had just put in a few new gauges on the boat and my buddy comments on how nice they look all lit up. As we're admiring my new gauges a monster unlit green channel marker makes it way into the bow. There's the three of use screaming LOOK OUT. No time to react and avoid it, BAMM we smacked the **** thing pretty good put a 12 inch crack in the hull and mild damage to the side. By the sound of it I thought we where going down. Nobody got hurt and its a lesson learned. I now use a million what Q-Beam to guide my way. Keep in mind I've made this run so many times, You must get to relaxed and stuff like this happens. We did continue the trip and fished till dawn.Never took on any water? I've since repaired the crack.

Just remember that using that bazillion candlepower Q-Beam is going to destroy your night vision. You may find, especially on a moonlighted night, that if you just slow down and let your eyes adjust to the dark, you will see obstructions in the water just fine.

Hey, the mods always say, search the archives (ok I've only heard that once here, but it's said often, elsewhere)... now when someone does, you get all mad. :D

BTW, on this subject, some of us are already half blind and don't have any decent night vision.

:D I just thought it was funny how Rob reacted once he found out what he did. I seen it when paintitup12 first posted on this thread and I didn't say anything, Nandy did it for me lol. I don't own this forum so I have no say in the old threads getting dug up from the past. Doesn't really bother me, just sort of funny how some of these people reply to the thread thinking it was just made yesterday or the same day lol. You also got to consider that some of these threads from 2001 and maybe newer may not be suitable for the new forum rules.

See, people use the search function.:D

LOL they sure do don't they :D.

That is an excellent point, and one that I have noticed many times while boating at our cottage.
