1984 mercruiser 140 part no longer available

need a flywheel GM part #2778809<br /> or merc part #220-8775<br />or just ring gear if just that can be change, that is what is actually on it<br />question to anyone that would know, would one fit from newer models or any other solution<br />thanks.<br />bgjj

You can change just the ring gear. Count the teeth and go to you local autoparts store and tell them what you need. Measure across the flywheel also. You will need to heat the ring gear to get it off. Should cost less than twenty bucks.

Look for a 1970 chevy nova with the 153 cid engine. It was the last year GM used them in cars. That might make it easier to locate one.
