oh yes, Non re-starting issue could be as simple as a bad or intermittant starter also, given the age its probably due for replacement if it is teh original unit.<br /><br />a good autoparts store can test the starter, but I recommend taking to a local electric motor rewinder/rebuilder for repair.<br /><br />they will turn the armature and replace bearings bushings as needed, as good as a new unit and usually very little cost.

Well, she's coming home next week. Turns out my upper unit was shot and seizing up. $1800 for the upper. Ouch.

Yep, never saw it coming. The fluid was looking a little burnt to boot. I'm disappointed that no one noticed the fluid when it was winterized.<br />The good news is that the lower unit (surprisingly) looked strong and the engine "has at least a few more years left." The hull is in great shape and, overall, the boat is in great shape.<br />I only paid 2500 back when I bought this boat so I guess I can't complain about one major repair.

I have to say "guilty as charged"....from the original post I would never have guessed drive problem.
