mercruiser 4.3 alpha one outdrive loose

I have noticed lately that my outdrive sounds kind of noisy. If you turn the steering wheel while its idling it goes away in certain positions. With it out of the water it is loose you can move it from side to side very easily but the steering wheel doesnt move. Any help would be great!!

Loose upper swivel shaft clamp in the gimbal ring. Tighten the two bolts (you'll need a spanner on the nuts on the back) at the top of your gimbal ring. Should be done on the annual sevice, that's every year.<br /><br />Chris.......................

How exactly do you do that, where are the bolts at, im not to familiar with outdrives. What is the gimbal ring?

Ayuh,.........<br />#1 is the Gimbel Ring,......<br />And #21,+ #23 are the Nut,+ Bolt.........<br /><br />You get an A+ ,garycinn..........
