Heres the scoop, i took my boat out last weekend. noticed some dripping around the head gasket and then some knocking so i figure blown gasket. ok. now i order new gaskets for 103 bucks replace the manifold gasket also get everything together real nice and start her up. pers like a kitten. ok time for the water. i take it to the water and drive her around for a bit no big deal. i kill it poull it to the beach ok. i want to go back out, so i start it. . . O NO NO. . . she wont start. starter sounds sick, liek it wont engage all the way. ok i tear it down barney style and find rust all in it. clean it and put it back together and it sounds sciker :( sounds like grinding gears and its smoking O NO! well anyway that is problem one. problem two comes along in the form of there is still water getting into the oil. WHY o WHY! i dont know where else to look. the block isnt cracked i dont think it didnt look it when i took the head off ang spun the crank. but how is water getting into the oil now? where else can i check? please o please someone help!

the riser or elbow is where the exhaust enters the hose just before exiting the boat.
you should be looking for internal cracks or places where they have rotted through allowing water to enter engine

i dont know see it would leak into the engine unless water is pouring into the exhaust manifold and then getting into the valves.

yes if manifold or elbow are leaking water will go in motor thru exhaust valves

i just pulled the exhaust manifolds off and i was wondering if they are supposed to look like this and if they are are the slits supposed to be covered because they were when i opened the end up. if not i need to know so i can remedy the situation with my next gaskets.

it looks like there is some rust in center of exhaust tube this may be problem

the exhaust goes through center of manifold the water is on outside if theres a leak the water will go into motor through exhaust valves.the water and exhaust meet in the elbow/riser

you may be able to cap manifold and pressure test

the tube integrityh is fine i just found that the slits around the tube had a gasket on it, that i dont think is correct. so i will fix and see what happens.

ok an update i found that the plugs are all black, but no rust so that leads me to beleive there is not any water in the cylinders.

does anyone think that this water in the oil could be reminents from my known blown head gasket experience?

ok update, i pulled the oil filter off. doesnt look like there was any oil in it. just a splash or two. odd no? i took the cooler apart, well the two ends off i cant get the middle out yet without taking a big nut off where the filter goes, but it doesnt look in good shape. black water came out. maybe i found the leak.
