Hi Guys,

I have a 1987 Merc. 3.0L and the manual states that the timing should be 6 deg. BTDC. I assume that I should be checking this at idle, but not sure of what the RPM's should be: 700-800??

Thanks for the help!!

Jeff

700-800 should be the idle speed. I think it may be a little higher running on the muffs.

also depends on what ign system it has. the timing procedure varies with ign type.
