I have a Quicksilver water separaing fuel flter to install with the rest of my tune up kit. Does it matter where the filter is located?

1988 GM 3.0L 4cyl (181ci)
Mechanical fuel pump mounted on the block driven by the engine.

Mount:
Before the pump?
After the pump?
If before the pump (which I think) does height matter in relation to pump?

Thanks :)

Just mount it where you can get to it to change it. While it can be mounted on the transom with no problem, just plumb it so the filter is between the tank and the fuel pump inlet. NOT between the pump and carb.

Thanks Don S.
Is the height not important?

Within reason, the fuel pump still has to pull the fuel from the tank. I like to keep them as low as possible and still serviceable.
