Help! Old Viking outboard

I recently purchased an old 12' Sears aluminum boat. It came with a 9.6 hp Viking motor. I'm guessing it's early 1970's as that is the year on the spark plug wires. The motor runs well but we'd love to give it a tune up. No one I've asked has any idea where to get parts for this thing. In particular, we'd like to change the points. Any ideas where I can look for parts? I've searched the net with no luck so far. I did get a part number from one marine shop in my area but it turns out the number is very outdated and cannot be traced forward. <br /><br />I'd appreciate any help.<br /><br />Nicole<br />Alberta, Canada<br />

hi your viking is a 1970 the last year made and the only year the 9.6 was made for viking it was made bychrysler sold by eatons i might have some parts let me know what you need larry

Mercury was the last owner of the Chrysler outboards division. They called them "Force" motors. Mercury no longer supports them, but some old dealers might have some old parts stock.

i have a 20 hp and was told that chrysler bought them out i found parts thru langille's in Eastern passage in nova scotia at a real fair price
