I have a mercruiser 5.0 and I poured a quart of Restor hoping that it will improve engine performance and longevity. It claims to do a lot of good thing to engines. Anyone has any experience with this product?

I'm a firm beleiver that the only thing you should add to your crankcase is motor oil!

Ditto... I've never been a fan of the "rebuild in a can"<br /><br />Regular oil changes is vital.<br /><br />H.

I am currently using it in a 1973 225 GM that read a pretty even 20# low on all cylinders. It seems to have helped as far as I can tell. I always do the required maintainance and keep up with oil changes even a couple times a season, but for $10, and if I feel it makes a difference, thats good bye me.<br /><br />I plan on doing a compession test at the next oil change to see the difference. For a 30 yr old motor, this thing burns absolutely no oil and exhuast is clean as a whistle.

I don't use it in the boat as it is a fresh engine, but I do pour a can in my 3.0 V6 Ranger about every other oil change. Seems to use less oil with it.

Pour a bottle of 80-90w gear oil in there, and you'll probably get the same results!<br />I think that stuff just gums everything up.<br /><br />Read some consumer reports on it.<br /><br />I read somewhere that 'Slick 50' had it's share of lawsuits. I'm sure other engine additive 'snake oils' have been in trouble too.<br /><br /><br />Pure clean oil is all you need. If you engine needs more, then it has other issues. <br /><br />You're probably delaying the inevitable using the Restore, motor medic etc... <br /><br /><br />H.

"snake oil" takes good money from your pocket and puts it in the pocket of some shister will doing nothing for your engine. Like Hommerr said: "Pure clean oil is all you need. If you engine needs more, then it has other issues."

Milkyway<br /><br />"snake oil" means money going out of your pocket in return for nothing!! You are wasting your money on these oil additives that profess to be able to rebuild your engine and make it run better / faster and what have you...
