I have an '85 conroy with a 140 hp mercruiser and purchased a set of points and condenser since it isn't wanting to turn over this summer. I figured I could do this myself and was just wanting to make sure I properly install them and was hoping someone could help me with this. Any help would sure be appreciated.. if you know what the gap should be that would come in handy also.
Thanks again for any help
reflog

Re: proper way to install points & condenser

I bought an '89 4.3L omc a couple springs back and ignition tune up was one of the first things I did. I just followed the procedure in the Clymer's manual using a feeler gauge. The factory manual is much better, but the Clymer's description was understandable enough that it was a pretty easy job and it's been working great for ~30 hrs now.

On my 85 merc 140, most of the specs, like gap, dwell, rpm range, and firing order are listed on the valve cover.
