what is the "angle" of the carb.do you have the correct base plate adaptor.with the stern sitting deeper the engine is tilted rearward that may be affecting the float level.

BtDoctur, been there, checked that.ive checked the level of the fuel in bowl on the trailor to perfect, just below the site bowl and ran the engine and still got gas in the oil....<br />my next step is the # 7561 edelbrock intake manifold.the preformer2 intake thats on the engine right now, i think has been shaveg to many times, and is not seating right.when the engine was rebuilt last month, it was shaved because it was worped, they also sand blasted it.i sprayed the red intake befor it went on the engine.a couple of weeks ago i noticed that the intake was shifted towards cylinders 1357 about 2mm,the boltes were ALL tight.the michanic is looking for a used intake to try on the engine befor it comes out.if that's not the problem then its the ignition system.

Man o I think you need a new mechanic. If the intake were shifted as you say, the engine would likely not run. The vacuum loss from one whole side of the intake being 2 mm from the heads would be HUGE, nothing left for the engine to run. The sound would be obvious and the cold start would be impossible. I am sure it wouldnt idle if it started. And there is no way for the ignition system to get fuel in your oil no matter what is wrong with it.

funney enough you said that about the idle, the carb rebuilder noticed every time my carbs come in, the curb idle was to far in.he said my carbs were always flowed 20''vac. and bont touch the curb idle adjustment.he said thear's a problem with the engine if i had to increase the idle.i mentioned this to the michanic and he said i may have to brill a pin hole in the primeary throttle plates/flaps due to the cam.what do you think about the idle problem?
