Bought a rebuilt distributer for my 1976 seastar w/250 straight 6 motor. This was purchased at a local auto parts store. Low and behold it fit and worked but was unaware of the marine rated distributors. So we went out and bought a "marine rated" points and condenser rebuild kit and the bracket below the points plate and condenser is broke, if I purchase a distributor from an auto store and replace the points and condensor with the "marine rated" will this be OK?? Cant wait to get the boat out please help...... .............Thank You

Re: distributor problems?????????

Well,............

The Marine Rating comes from the Venting of the Dist.......
Some are vented thru the Cap,.. But I don't know if those Caps would fit the Dist. housing that you have now...........
Others are vented down thru the actual Dist. casting,....... So,... That's where it's got to be Marine Rated.............

Sooooo,.........
It's the Way the Dist. is Vented that gives it, It's Marine Rating........
Same goes for All engine assessories,... Alt.,Starter, Dist., Carb., etc.......
Sparks Can't fly around corners, or thru fine screens,.......

No Boom that way..........It'll save your Life.......

As far as the Points,+ Condenser,..... I don't Know that there's Actually a Difference.........
