hey guys I know I have asked before but I would like to install the perko flush kit it seems very simple as long as i can find the right hose. this is a 2000 5.7 bravo two mercruiser and the only 1-1/4 hoses I see come off by the thermostat and lead to each manifold . I believe I need the hose coming in from the drive but I just do not see this. can someone help or is there a diagram???

Thanks
COOL IT

Can you find the Raw-water Pump,.... The 1 you change the Impeller in, Every other year,..???

There'll be 2 hoses on it,......
1 is Seawater In,.......And the other will be feeding your cooling system.........
That's the 1 You're Looking For........

Have you contacted Perko? IF they designed the kit for your engine, they should know how to install it, or am I missing something?

This from the Redneck Mechanic files:
When I got my Alumacraft with the Volvo I/O, the previos owner isntalled one of those T's from the Prestone radiator flush kit just before the raw water pump.
I added an inline ball valve for a garden hose to the contraption, so I can shut the water off from inside the boat when the engine stops so I can make adjustments without a 100 gallons of water flowing down my driveway.

If you have trouble seeing the inlet hose to the raw water pump (if you have one, as you didn't state...kinda important) you will sure have trouble putting in a big ol'Perko. If you are fresh water cooled, and just want to do the Man's, ya can't just flush them out without the engine running, as if ya put TOO MUCH water into then, and the motor is NOT running, you could back up and possibly get water in the cylinders through an exhaust valve. Now you have water in the motor, and a real problem........so think this one over as what you need to do. I have decided to listen to the old salts here in the salty waters of Puget Sound....use it or lose it. Run the motor as much as possible, like every 3-5-7 if needed days. And do a Christmas gift of a $150 to the Manifold fund, and don't worry about the block, as it will last for years, even in salt. Best to also do a PROPER winterize too. Good luck, and remember, its a boat, loves your money...............

I did this, it works.

1. Remove one of the blanks on the thermostat housing. Install a shutoff valve.

2. Remove one or both of the block drain plugs. Install a shutoff valve at each or tee them together to a shutof valve. Connect a hose long enough to route the water overboard.

To flush, feed water to the thermostat housing and open the drains shutoff valve.

This will not flush the manifolds. If you need to flush the manifolds, connect the block outlet to the manifold drains.

Qystan
