Mercruiser Stern Drive 120 hp

The shifter/throttle lever feels like it is about to fall off! The former owner said there is a special way to tighten it up. Before i take it apart i thought i would inquire as to this procedure. Thanks in advance for your help.

1982 Set in a 16 foot open bow "Success". Apologize for not posting the year initially. I can't get the pic to automatically show up, but if you cut and paste link into your browser you should be able to see it. Thank you so much! John

if its only the control handel, there is a set screw that holds it on normally.a small allen is all thats needed.

Thanks that sounds easy enough, the guy made it sound like it was a special procedure. I will check it out tomorrow, thanks! John

Ok, no allen or set screw visible.
The neutral button slips right over the bolt that everything pivots on.
I looked very closly at everything, took apart
all that i could.
Could not get the shifter to come off the pivoting point, and could not see a nut that was holding it on. Could not see what was holding the shifter on the pivoting point.
There was a part number on the inside of the shifter houseing. I will post that if helpful.
