I went out to fire island yesterday, and as im backing into the slip, i guess i sucked up some seaweed, and the temp went right up to about 205... i shut her down and drifted into the slip...

I dont want to damage my motor, but I really dont like being embarrased like that in a public slip... is there any way to prevent sucking up seaweed?

Try heading in instead of backing in.

I thought I saw a post in the "Boat non-motor" section about weed control earlier in the spring. You may want to do a search.

My boat is very hard to get to the bow without going thru the cuddy, climbing up, etc...

When i have 6-7 people on the boat, backing in is the easiest way.

Shifting to the opposite direction of travel will usually clear the water intake........It only takes a second or 2.....

Fwd to Rev,.. or vice versa......... ;)

i have had this problem and now the engine is running really rough.. (the launch was full of seaweed) about 2 minutes from the launch at idle (nowake)speed the temp shot up to 220 and i turned around to head to my slip.. within a minute the temp started to go down slowly and then just started to run rough and ready to stall .. got in slip and restarted , runs bad. ANY ADVICE
