I have a 1990 merc 3.0 with an alpha one out drive. I was reading instructions on how to change 0r "flush" the tilt/trim fluid. IN the instructions it says to put the outdrive in the up position, then remove the AFT hydrolic lines ect...
Well my outdrive doesn't have fore & aft lines. they are actually side by side. One line fits in the side of the ram (inner side near the l/u) the other line fits on the top of the ram.

My question - which line do I remove when the outdrive is in the up position? the one on the top or the one on the side?

Thanks,
TC

Re: qiuck trim question.

Do you have Water, or some other Contamination,..??

Why do you want to Change it ??

Depending on the Issue,...... I'd do the draining from the little Manifold, Under the transom assembley.............

Oh,..... And BTW,...... I'd Start with the Drive in the Down position, or Block Up the Drive,......
It's going to Hurt when it Drops on you, when you release the Pressure on the Up-side of the system..............

Re: qiuck trim question.

it did have water in it. after closer inspection there clearly is a fore & aft hose on each ram. I was working out of my manual. if you have the drive in the up position & remove the aft hose, the drive wont fall.

thanks for your help
