Recently purchased a 1994 Bayliner Cierra 2355 with a 4.3 LX that had a cracked block. I purchased a new engine from Perfomance Product Technologies and had it installed by a boat mechanic. Had good luck with the boat for about a week.

After cruising on the lake at 1600 rpm for about two hours, we accelerated to 3200 rpm for about 15-20 minutes and the engine died. There were no indications on the dash gauges that there were any problems. I checked the engine compartment for unusual smells or misplaced wires but found neither. I tried to restart and the engine appears to start and die immediately. I tried bypassing the fuel/water seperator and adding dry gas - still no luck - ended up getting towed in. I replaced the coil and still same problem.

Could use any help - summer is almost over in Maine
