Mecruiser 305 cutting out

I have a 1985 Mercruiser w/305 w/4b Rodchester carb, HEI thunderbot ignition, new plug wires, distributor cap, rotor button. Starts and runs fine until full throddle then starts cutting out.
Carberator has been rebuilt. New fuel filter and fuel/water seperator. Could it be timing or starving for fuel? I don't know which way to go.
Any advice or experiences appreciated.

Borrow or rent an inductive timing light. Put the inductive lead on one of the spark plug wires and run the engine. If it's an ignition issue, you'll see an interruption in the flashing of the light.

You can lso check each plug wire individually to see if one cylinder is giving you grief..

you may want to use that timeing light to set the timeing also.
