omc cobra stern drive oil

I have a GM3.0 omc cobra stern drive that I let sit for 3 weeks,than changed gear lub and from drain plug about 3oz. of water came out before oil was told condensation. Put new oil in 1 quart was gold color 1 was green,1qt. was omc lub 1qt was a different kind all I could get kids in car screaming. Took boat out 1 time and checked dipstick and a pressure was there, oil level the same but it turned a mint, milky color. Is this water or mabe the mixture of 2 different gear lubes.

Not an omc guy but, putting two different color lubes in just doesn't sound right. However there are alot of members who are far more knowlegeble on omc stuff, and I'm sure you will get more input.....JK

I'd probably change it again. You can use the OMC/Bombardier HPF gear oil, it is a honey brown color.<br />My mechanic likes the Merc High performance gear oil, the green/blue stuff, that's what he uses in mine. Works fine.<br />I would not mix 2 different types of gear oil. And if it looks milky after changing it again, have it pressure/vacuum tested at the end of the season, you may have a seal leak.

You can get hi vis marine gear oil at wal-mart for like $3 quart. they also have castrol synthetic hi vis gear oil for maybe $6 a quart.<br /><br />i'd put in the regular dino until you fix or determine there is no leak, then put in the synthetic castrol next gear oil change.

This is my brothers boat and we went out yesterday and it is a confirmed leak (oil is milky). We just dont know from where as the bellow is dry. Where can we find a seal rebuild kit for this cobra drive? Thanks

I've been able to find most everything I've needed on ebay, just make sure the part numbers match up and the seller has good feedback. I found my ~$400 lower gear set for $200 new.
