Will this work???

I have a 94 4.3lx merc with carburetor and full closed cooling system. Would a water crossover work on this set up or do i need the circulation pump to keep the antifreeze moving in the block. I dont know much about these crossovers.<br /> Thanks you.

Not sure what a crossover is.....Your engine should not need any modification to operate within acceptable temperature range....Are you having a heat or circulation problem?.....JK

J.kopec, no heat problem what so ever. Just was wondering if it would work so i could get rid of the circulation pump and belt (looks a little cleaner). A crossover is a 1 1/4 stainless pipe that mounts on the front of the engine block where the circulation pump would be mounted. The pipe allows the antifreeze to enter and exit the entire block.

A cross over can cause a bunch of problems on Alpha's....and Bravo's too, to a lesser extent.<br />I toyed with the idea of going that route and picking up a few free HP but it's not worth the risk.<br />Since you are closed cooling you HAVE to have the circ pump, so it's not an option for you.

Ayuh,..........<br /><br />Cross-over tubes are used on Raw water cooled Jet-powered boats,.........<br /><br />Not on I/O powered boats,........<br /><br />And,.. Diffinetly Not on Freshwater cooled system............

Sorry to burst your bubble there, but crossovers are fairly common on even moderate High Performance I/O boats.

Yes, you HAVE to have a circ pump to move the antifreeze in your type of system.
