thermostat location/ 350 chevy

Hello,<br />My husband is helping our newly widowed friend fix the boat her husband bought not long before he died. It's a '78 chevy 350 marine engine(with omc 800 stern drive). Problem: where is the thermostat located? I'm trying to look online for any available schematics of the engine, but am having no luck whatever. Any help would be much appreciated. As it is not our boat, and we don't stand to profit, we'd like not to have to purchase a manual (but will take suggestions on which one if we should have to.)

number 9 there is your thermostat.. should be right under that plate #7 that should be in the front of the engine with all those hoses going into it.. <br /><br />hope this helps

Thanks so much! One more thing: is #1 the water pump or what is it?

#1 is the thermostat housing......Welcome to iboats ..;..JK
