I am in the middle of dilemma and need some opinions here.
I have a 26' Formula that is equipped with a manual head. There is no holding tank; it is straight through waste hose. I was thinking taking off the whole thing and replacing with USCG approved porta potti. I think it would be better then adding a holding tank, pump and the rest of stuff I don't even know. What would be a good porta patti?
Thank you,
Lenny

Port-a-Potti makes a pretty good line of portapotties, Lenny.

get a five gal bucket with the bucket toilet seat w/lid from cabela's ($10).
get some sanitary bags, that way when each person uses it they can replace the bag themselves.
-
then when they leave the boat, just remind they to grab their bag(s) and take all there -hit with them.
-
saves you the trouble of having to clean & dump.
works for us.

:) Being a manual head with direct discharge to the ocean, you need not let anybody use it till you get out beyond 3 miles. then it is leagal to dump direct into ocean!!!

Re: Porta Potti or what???

A friend of ours (Puget Sound, Western WA) bought a old 30ft Owens and restored it. When checking on the regulations for Heads he found that his boat was Grandfathered in for a manual head. I guess they figure that there isn't enough of them left to matter much.

As JB mentioned Port-a-Potti has some good products..
Another option "if you have enough head room" in the head is to install a small holding tank with the toilet sitting on top of it. I've seen this done a couple times in older cabin boats. Then you just use hookups and pump it out.
But must give 2K BOAT some credit for a good idea LOL
