Any recommendations to replace worn-out Mercruiser controls?

Have an '86 Searay with 140 Mercruiser. Controls are about shot.

I actually prefer a two-lever system with neutral safety switch, or at least a single lever with a throttle warm up control. This is a side mount, although I'm redoing the interior this winter and suppose I could build a console for a top mount if necessary.

Has anyone made changes from the stock Mercruiser to anything better (either newer Mercruiser, or an aftermarket?)

Thanks for any information.

I changed to Morse. Worked well.

Teleflex/Morse are the most common after market and are the preferred replacement. Sierra is my supplier for these.

me I prefer the factory one. it fits correctly every time. duel lever controls have torn up mor gearbox's than I care to count. its usuaally due to something goes wrong and it wont idle correctly so they jack up the rpm with one lever and slaam shift with the other. universal fit usually means it universally fits nothing well.
I dont think brunswick has made a single lever box without a throttle only position in 30 years.

Rodbolt, the more I learned about the double lever, the scarier it got. I do like the warmup lever on my Evinrude box, but agree that single lever is the only way to go, especially if anyone but me is ever to drive the boat (as in 15 year old son).

Thanks for info.

The Morse (teleflex) shifters have a "throttle only" button that allows you to operate the throttle up w/o being in gear. You move it back to neutral to put it back in dual mode (so you can't slam it in gear no matter what you do)
