Hello. Have a rack and pinion steering system on my 17 foot Searay bowrider..Cable froze on me and I need to take cable out to replace it...I got it all out BUT where it connects to transom/drive..I have unhooked carter pin and I can slide cable end out of drive sleeve it was sitting in but I do not have enough room in transom area to pull it out totally to remove cable from hydralic assist sleeve..Can I just cut the cable since I am getting another one anyway???Is there a good drawing/procedure out there somewhere that shows how to remove old rack and pinion cable system without having to remove much else??? Thanks,Pete44

I'm Sure you Can,........
But,..... How are you going to Install that New 1,.???
You Still got to find the Space........

Just Unbolt the Hyd. Slave,.... The hoses will be long enough to gain the room you need....
There are 2 rather large bolts that have bendable Lock-Tabs holding them in place,.. 1 facing Up,+ the other is directly opposite it facing Down...... Loosen both of them,+ slide the steering free of the transom assembley,.. be careful not to drop the Bushings that are in there, 2 of them.....

Reassembley is just the other way around,.....
Is there a good procedure out there somewhere that shows how to remove old rack and pinion cable system without having to remove much else???
Ayuh,........... You Must be Dreaming,...........
