Ok, doing this for the first time and just want to make sure there's nothing else I should do while I've got the sterndrive and bell housing off my '89 Invader w/ the 3.0L and Alpha1.

I'm replacing the trim limit switches, bellows, and shift cable (the limit switch and cable need to be replaced, the bellows I'm just replacing while I'm in there).

The ujoints seem fine and the gimble bearing seems fine.

Anything else to do?? Waht about lubricating the bearing, etc?

Check the water hose between the bellhousing and transom shield. If it's weather cracked and stiff, it should be replaced.
The only bearing in there to lubricate is the gimbal bearing, and that is done using the grease zirk on the outside of the transom shield.
Don't forget to check the alignment.
Did you replace the shift cable bellows when you replaced the shift cable?

Don,

Yes, I forgot to mention, I also got a new water hose.

And yes, I've got the new shift cable bellow as well.

I don't have the alignment tool. I guess I should go ahead and buy one. I assume what I'm lining up is the engine with the bearing, right?

thanks!
