I'm getting ready to do the winterizing process and have a question about fogging the engine. I understand what it's purpose is and how to do it but what product do I use? I don't have a marina close (1 1/2 hr drive) so I'd like to use something that's available at an auto parts store or something similar.
suggestions?

Go to any auto parts store and ask for fogging oil or spray. It's everywhere...and any brand will do the job.

Actually for fogging, almost any oil will help.

I am wondering if you are stabilizing the gas, draining the water, from the block and manifolds, etc.

just hope you realize winterize is alot more than just fogging.

PS:Callahan did the quote you list.My favorite is Outlaw Josie Wales ... Don't P*ss down my back and tell me it's raining.

DHP

oh yeah...Clint's my hero

Yeah....I'm doin the whole process. Don't have a Merc manual but have been watching closely here for tips and mixin in a few common sense things I've learned in 51 Missouri winters. We used to fog our old gas spreader trucks from time to time back in the old days so I was familar with the process but wasn't sure about which product to use. If I remember right, we'd add a gallon of kerosene to the gas tank and run it a day or so then fog it with kerosene when we parked it. The kerosene in the gas tank trick helped with vapor lock on a hot day too.

The local O'Reilly Auto Parts store sells Marvel so I'll use that.

Whats happened to engines? I never fog any of my engines and I have freezing weather. 40+ years and I sold them running perfectly. Any new FEAR additives for sale? Does everybody in the world fog their engines or they rust to death.
