I've got a 66 120 OMC Stern Drive, and the engine runs great, but, this past weekend, the rack and pinion steering cable severed off at the thru transom plate. I'm try to locate at 17' replacement. The cable is a Morse 300298. I've not been able to find the 17' length of this cable, and one question I have is to I need the whole cable fabrication (rack, thru transom ball, etc.) or is there a replacement cable that I can use. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jason

Re: OMC Steering Cable

I sold one like that last year on eBay. you might check there... think mine was 15'- went for around $90 and it was mint.
Mine was a 1 piece.. some are 2 piece rack at the helm which would be easier to remove and install. pg. 7-36 of the Seloc manual has disassembly info.
