I have a 74 3.0 mercruser that has a bad carborator. We have a carb. off of a 72 2.5 mercruiser but it will not fit the 3.0. All the ones I can find says for a 2.5 or 3.0. I do know that the intake on the 2.5 has been replaced and the carb mounting bolt pattern is larger than the 3.0. Could this intake be off some other drive other than mercruser and if it is is there a way to tell whitch is whitch?

It sounds like your 3 L. has a newer style manifold for the Merc. Carb and newer Rochesters

Re: Mercruiser 2.5 3.0 carborator?

Took a little time and reread this thread, first there were no 3 liters in 74 the were 140s till about 83 if your carb was the original the tag number should be 1351-4293A1 or 1351-5203A1 they both cross to 1347-818620-1. A 1972 120 carb is numbered 1351-4263A3 and was changed to 1351-5202A1 in 74, neither of the 120 carb. are interchangeable to your engine
