Hello, I just bought a 2004 Glastron with the Volvo 5.0. It has 21 hours on the clock and the manual says it needs an inspection at 20 hours. It does not really go into detail about what needs to be done. What should I have done and could I do it myself?

Thanks!

If there is a warranty involved, take it in. If not, change the oil and let 'er rip.

I'm not very acquainted with Volvo, but....If this boat has never been serviced....You have a boatload :D of stuff to check.....As DD says....If it is still under warranty, by all means take it in......You should probably change the gear lube in the drive, lube the u-joints & definatly check all hoses (water & fuel) for any sign of leakage.....
There is really too much to list......
The next tool for your toolbox should be the proper service manual.....Post your serial# & wait for some more input as to the proper one....
Don't waste your money on a Seloc or Clymer's....
Get the official Volvo one ;) .....JK

Ok, it is still under warranty but I don't know if the drive train will transfer to second owers...

I'll have to call and find out. Do you have any idea od what it would cost to have this done if it is not under warranty?

It will probably cost about the same whether under warranty or not.Routine service and checkups are not covered under a warranty. The reason the question about having a warranty was asked because if there is a warranty ,you will want to maintain it exactly as required to keep the warranty in effect and you will want to do it at the dealer .

the price is not going to change as the service is not a warranty covered item.

One of the big items is to pull the drive and be sure the drive aliment is correct.

Most dealers should have a fixed price on the service and should be able to tell what there going to check

tommays
