I just picked up a 00 baja w/ a 7.4mpi. Anyone know where I can get a good set of wires, coil, and cap from?

And just what who's 7.4mpi is that. You know, Volvo, Mercruiser, model number, year. Little things like that.

What's the serial number or year? The 7.4 used 2 different distributors.

Re: 7.4mpi performance ignition components

I don't think the MPI 7.4 ever came with anything other than the Delco EST distributor. The small block MPI engines of the same year (2000) used Thunderbolt ignition.

Your best bet is to use OEM tune-up parts. If you wanted to use parts of a little higher quality, you could go with MSD cap, rotor, wires, and coil if you wanted to (they do make them for the Delco EST ignition system), but you won't see any performance gain. But it will look pretty cool.

Dave
