1984 OMC 800 Series drive - 1997 Chev.5.7 liter 260 Hp w/ electronic ignition - neither of which were original equipment in my 20' Grady White (1980).

I was the the first operator of this boat after the engine outdrive change from the originally supplied 4 cyl. engine. Shifting into neutral from either forward or reverse was impossible and after some internet research it became apparent that this set-up needed the shift interrupt / ESA
installation. I've found and purchased the correct shift converter box and the ESA module however I've not been able to find any information on the wiring connections. I understand that with the new ESA modules it's no longer necessary to use the second switch on the shift converter box. Can someone steer me in the right direction here !

Thanks

Jon
jth737@verizon.net

That's the trouble with half breed modifications.
What type of ignition? The ESA's were used primarily with traditional ingnitions.

Mallory electronic ignition and the ESA module ( CDI/Rapair) is the Petronix version.

Does your shift adapter have the interrupt, the overstroke switches and plug on it?

Yes. Both switches are wired into a common 4 pin female connector.
